BIRONI
This
artist has long been known just as "Brioni". Self labeled as the
"Doctor of Glassology", Bri’oni
was born between 1943 and 1947 (he won’t let you know which year
specifically!) in New York. He has been blowing glass for 25
years. During that time he has held various positions as a
teacher, designer and glass blower. He has long been known for
original wine, champagne and martini glass designs. He prides
himself in producing quality stemware with exceptionally good
value. In addition to his love for creating beautiful glass, he
has also been instrumental in furthering the awareness of glass
art in America. He helped develop the Sausalito Art Center in
Sausalito, CA. Through 2 National Endowment for the Arts grants
and a Tiffany Foundation grant Brioni was able to develop the
art center and design electric glass furnaces to function in a
production environment.
His work is featured in the following collections: The White
House Smithsonian Museum - Washington D.C Boston Museum of Fine
Art Chicago Museum of Art Lyman Museum - Big Island, Hawaii
Bishop Museum - Oahu, Hawaii Bergstrom Mahler Museum - Wisconsin
"My personal attitude towards my work is to make people stop -
just stop, look and appreciate" says Brioni. |
